Initially these were letters to my daughter but then they evolved into this book. This is the story of our partings.
1. This time cats weren't in a hurry to meet mom at all.
2. Mochnatytch's heart melted on the second day.
3. Cats are arguing where mom should plant grass,
Zazi advises to plant on the right side of the lilac bush,
and Mochnatytch - on the left side.
4. Cats cleaned up the aquarium.
5. Mochnatytch feels guilty because he couldn't restrain his hunting instinct, so he caught and ate a moth.
6. Zazi is sleeping deeply after she arranged a St.Bartholomew's night on the night between 16 and 17 of July.
7. While Mochnatytch was praying to the Cheese God,
Zazi planned and commited a perfidious robbery of a plate with sandwiches.
8. Cats are captiously inspecting Swedish visas in Varia and granny Olia's passports.
9. Cats were pickling cucumbers all night preparing for Varia's arrival.
10. Cats are observing gluttonous frogs after a sleepless night.
11. Mochnatytch hid very well this year,
parents would never have found him if Zazi hadn't peeked when he had been hiding.
12. Zazi and Mochnatytch are examining photos of Dusia's cats on mom's mobile phone.
Zazi liked... Kazman and Mochnatytch said that he liked all of them.
13. Cats are wondering through the tears, 'Will Varia always be home so fleetly since now?'
14. Zazi and Mohnatytch went out into the balcony worried how the grass was growing, but saw two cats;
one of them was black with white spots and another was white with black spots;
our cats were shy to meet them.
15. Cats are asking mom how many cats she had counted on the pictures of great masters
presented at the exhibition dedicated to the 100th anniversary of The Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts.
16. Mochnatytch started laughing his head off when Zazi was trying on Varia's Chinese glasses.
17. Cats discovered two newborn walkingsticks.
18. Zazi is calling Mochnatytch to have a look at the mountain of nettle
which mom has build under the window for the dad's arrival.
19. Zazi helps mom to make bed day after day.
20. Zazi ate a moth and told Mochnatytch that she had just been sitting on the window and yawning,
and butterfly had flown into her mouth itself.
21. Before going to bed mom told Zazi and Mochnatytch about three granny Olia's cats.
22. On the 5th of August Zazi washed the floors and combed Mochnatytch's hair.
23. Zazi had time to just smell the place where dad's stolen sandwich had laid.
24. Mochnatytch marvellously played his usual role of 'a speed bump'
when mom was doing Varia's spine exercises.
25. Cats were observing the apple rain and listening to yard cats' howling the whole night.
26. Cats and a young escaped walkingstick intensively watched a crow turmult in the yard.
27. Dad had built a house out of two armchairs and a bedspread for Zazi,
and she was sleeping on the roof the whole night.
28. Cats are interested what dad has drawn overnight.
29. Cats are recalling three fun days with Varia.
30. Zazi jumped out of the balcony with whiskers covered with cobweb,
and Mochnatytch didn't want to leave.
31. Cats are inspired by the closing ceremony of the Olympic Games in London.
32. Cats are helping mom to pack the suitcase for going to Vyborg.
33. While parents were out, cats were trying to count walkingsticks,
but they always lost count ob 21.
34. Cats don't avow to parents what happened while they were in Vyborg for three days.
35. Zazi is examining a mosquito, who she saved mom from, through a microscope.
36. Cheese God finally heard Mochnatytch.
37. Cats found a spider under the table and released him.
38. Mochnatytch is thinking if he should adopt Zazi's new habit to sit in front of a closed fridge.
39. Zazi scared everyone.
40. Cats saw dad off to Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk and are now reading aloud turn by turn the book
by Andrey Platonov that mom rescued from a trash can.
41. Zazi escaped to the hallway.
42. Cats are romping, anticipating Varia's arrival.
